Melissa L. Bernheim has wide-ranging experience in all aspects of bankruptcy, restructuring, out-of-court workouts and avoidance litigation. She has primarily represented liquidating trustees and corporate debtors in the floral, healthcare, air cargo and cruise travel industries.
Melissa L. Bernheim was a member of the Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Group at Kluger, Peretz, Kaplan & Berlin P.L. (KPKB), where she focused on the representation of liquidating trustees and corporate debtors.
Early in her career Ms. Bernheim gained extensive experience as general counsel to Chapter 11 debtors. Today, as a member of the Bankruptcy Bar, Ms. Bernheim focuses on domestic and international avoidance litigation as well as corporate reorganizations and general counseling to corporate debtors.
Ms. Bernheim is admitted to practice law inFlorida , as well as before the Southern District Court of Florida.
Ms. Bernheim earned her Juris Doctorate from The Washington College of Law at The American University, where she was a member of Law Review, and a Marshall-Brennan Fellow. Before that, Ms. Bernheim earned her bachelor of arts from Emory University , where she had the honor to earn a place on the Dean's List for all four years of attendance.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Bernheim spent time in Belfast , Northern Ireland studying the Irish Peace Process and working on the reconciliation effort. In addition, Ms. Bernheim had the opportunity to formally shadow a barrister in the High Courts of England, where she studied the English Common Law system. Ms. Bernheim takes pride in her unique ability to translate these diverse experiences into practical insights for the benefit of her clients and her practice.
