Mikhael Ann Buchanan brings a strong intellectual property and litigation background to her franchise law practice. Ms. Buchanan was admitted as a merit Dean’s Scholar to DePaul University College of Law’s prestigious and competitive Center for Intellectual Property Law & Information Technology First Year Legal Writing Program. Ms. Buchanan earned a Certificate in IP: Arts and Museum Law from DePaul, and she gained extensive experience in issues of copyright, trademark, privacy and publicity law while clerking for a Chicago entertainment law firm. Before joining Zarco, Einhorn, Salkowski & Brito, P.A., Ms. Buchanan was a litigation associate at a downtown Miami law firm, where she practiced in the areas of maritime, insurance, and commercial law. Ms. Buchanan’s current practice focuses on cutting-edge issues in franchise law, including matters of encroachment, antitrust, fraud in the inducement, and unfair and deceptive trade practices.

At the University of Chicago, Ms. Buchanan earned an A.B. in Classical Studies, and spent a semester in Rome, Italy. As a result of her undergraduate program, Ms. Buchanan has reading and writing ability in Latin and Ancient Greek, as well as conversational abilities in French, Italian and Spanish. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Buchanan was also a professional musician, having played various instruments on several recorded albums and performing live all over the United States.
