Robert, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1986. He dual-majored in Accounting and Risk & Insurance. Robert obtained his J.D. from the University of Miami in 1990. While attending law school, Robert obtained his C.P.A. license in Florida and also served as a law clerk with two prestigious Miami law firms.

After graduating from law school, Robert acquired vast experience in complex civil and criminal litigation in State and Federal Courts throughout the nation. In 1994 he began working with Robert Zarco, focusing on the representation of franchisees in litigation across the country. Robert is currently admitted to practice before several courts across the country including all State courts in Florida, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States Tax Court. Additionally, Robert has appeared and represented clients in several other State and Federal Courts throughout the country, and has conducted various arbitration proceedings across the nation. He also prepares and argues appeals in both State and Federal Courts.

Robert was named the managing partner of the Firm in 1998. In addition to being a lawyer, Robert is also a licensed C.P.A. in the State of Florida. As a result of his accounting knowledge, background and experience, Robert is uniquely qualified to assist his litigation clients with damages calculations and analysis, as well as his business clients with financing, budgeting and economic-planning issues. Robert and his Firm have been consistently recognized by their peers as the most experienced, creative and aggressive franchisee litigation law firm in the country.

Robert frequently represents the interests of Area Developers and Master Franchisees in various franchise systems. Robert also regularly protects the interests of his franchise clients in commercial disputes that commonly arise in their businesses, such as those involving employment litigation. Robert has also assisted in establishing many franchisee associations and represents the ongoing interests of several franchisee associations. In addition, he drafts business agreements, including trademark license agreements, and works with his small business clients to plan and execute their growth strategies.

Robert served on the Steering Committee for the American Franchisee Association Legal Symposium in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Robert was also an active member of the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers ("AAFD"), and served on the AAFD's Fair Franchising Standards Committee. Robert currently serves as a Topic and Articles Editor for the American Bar Association's ("ABA") Franchise Law Journal. He has written many articles on franchise law related topics, and is a frequent speaker at the ABA's Annual Franchise Forum. This Fall, he will be speaking about various State Statutes which address the franchise relationship.
