A Florida federal judge ruled Tuesday that Hard Rock Cafe International USA Inc. must face a Bahamas-based franchisee’s suit claiming it exaggerated its profitability and demanded exorbitant royalties, finding the court has jurisdiction although the franchise deal involves a foreign Hard Rock affiliate.

HONOLULU, Hawaii – A Hawaii-based dealer that also served as Harley-Davidson’s exclusive distributor for the Islands since 1966 is a franchisee and can fight the Motor Co.’s effort to discontinue the distributorship using Hawaii franchise law, a federal judge has ruled.
